Same question here, this lad (Sid) lives on my balcony, been there about 3 months, and is about 15mm head to butt.

It makes sense in terms of size and shape but the general "redness" and little collar threw me.

1st pic is of a couple of collared doves that eat the seed I leave out my back garden every morning. There are usually 5 or 6 of them feeding on it.

The rest of the pictures i took at the "eagles flying" centre in Ballymote, Co.Sligo which is well worth a visit by the way.

Here's a few birdie shots I took while on safari in South Africa last month. Can anyone identify the types of birds? I never got around to writing down what species of bird they were while I was there.

Anyone know what this is? Sorry about the poor picture quality, seen diving and hanging about at the canal in Castleknock. Shag or cormorant maybe?

Definitely a Shag. Never seen one of them myself.

It's a Cormorant...Shags don't really associate around fresh water...also Shags usually show a crest on the top of their heads...

hmmm the pictures in my Irish bird book show the cormorant with some colouration on its wings and with a narrower beak. Although I don't really know much beyond my book.

These are from the falconry place in Ailiwee caves. Took them when we were camping across the west in summer. Not as exotic as Trotters but i like them:)

Looks like the Burrowing Owl. A small owl from America that takes it name from what it does best....
