Yeah but it wasn’t a potentially dangerous period? Tomorrow a risk of flooding primarily and maybe snowy in higher ground.

probably rain/sleet for most low lying areas, but it's going to feel really chilly with cold, cold rain mixed with sleet and winds. A real feeling of late winter. A feeling we only had on a handful of days in the last week of January of the entire winter.

After a month of low to mid teen temperatures and mostly dry and sunny conditions, this is not going to feel good tomorrow!.

March starting off cooler for sure as i mentioned a while back. After the recent mild weather it will certainly feel quite cold. In regards to wintry weather it will be confined to high grounds as per usual.

We had record breaking February temperatures during the week hardly a word about it but now we have a thread about wind and rain🙈🙈

That's not particularly accurate, there was lots of discussion about that weather.

A month of low to mid teen temperature? I know February is a short month but it has more than four days.

Snow risk getting a bit more real

Snow risk is greater now than any other risk with this system. A surprise for some potentially on the cards. Some height will always help.

ME a bit more 'straight talking' this morning....

Later in the afternoon the rain will turn to snow in places as the winds become more northeasterly in direction and temperatures drop to between 1 and 5 degrees.

    Wind WNW

Not sure where this idea of snow is coming from. Certainly above 300-400 metres, but lower down it's more cold rain/maybe sleet. There's no cold to speak of and the northwesterly backedge airmass won't support the snow some are hoping for. No soundings showing anything close to low-level snow. I think Met Éireann were a little unclear when they mentioned snow above and should have said on mountains.

    changed again

The rain will turn to sleet and snow in places as the day goes on with the winds becoming northeasterly in direction and temperatures dropping to between 1 and 5 degrees.

Significant accumulations will, however, be largely restricted to higher ground

The south had a poor month but that doesn't speak for everyone else. The east had a very mild, very sunny month as has been well documented by now.

Tempetures weren't in the mid to low teens for a month, or anywhere near it anywhere on the island.

Looks classic Evap cooling situation for some.

Wet-bulb temperatures will be well above zero so evaporative cooling will be limited to that.

Tempetures weren't in the mid to low teens for a month, or anywhere near it anywhere on the island.

temperatures here in Meath were above 10C for most of February from the 5th of February onwards. The first 4 days of the month were still a bit chilly from that zonal cold spell end of January.

The 7th, 9th, 10th and 11th of February narrowly missed 10C with temperatures around 8 or 9C. From the 12th onwards every day reached at least 10C with most days reaching 13C.

In total 20 out of the 28 days reached double figures by day, most of them beyond 12C.

6 nights went sub-zero in total, the first 5 nights of February were sub-zero and then again on the 27th of February.

The last week was sunny out in Dun Laoghaire. That was about it. Still had gloves and scarf on for 90% of the month.
