Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Anyone any opinion on which are deemed to be the best of the many Nursing degree courses in Ireland?

    The one that would be deemed most favourable for job prospects and for equipping students with the appropriate skills needed for working as in nursing?

    Family member very happy with UCC. The main block of students are allocated to CUH. Smaller groups, around 20 are allocated to other Cork hospitals, South Infirmary/Victoria and Mercy, I think.
    Don't think it matters much in nursing, It's up to you to make progress in the field.

    All nursing degrees in Ireland have to follow the NMBI(Nursing and Midwifery Board of ireland )requirements. It wouldn't really matter where you chose your degree unless you have other preferences such as location, class sizes etc. All universities and institutes of technology have to follow the requirements set under the NMBI which means all universities cover the same content maybe with one or two different modules. As the poster above said Cork would be a good location as all the hospitals for UCC students are in Cork. While people undertaking the degree in Waterford,Athlone will have to travel to surrounding counties in order to complete placement for a variety of reasons.

    The highest ranked School of Nursing and Midwifery in Ireland is in Trinity College Dublin. But as another poster pointed out, all Nursing and Midwifery degree programmes have to meet NMBI requirements. Also, you didn't specify which discipline you are referring to? General nursing?
