    Hi there,

I hope this is the right place for this post. I'll give you my scenario.

I've been teaching in Further Ed for over ten years. It's mostly IT/Office skills. I got the job based on industry experience and had been teaching in English language field (have a degree in non-IT subject). I work for a private company and not directly for ETB.

I'm wondering what I would need to apply for jobs directly with ETB in Further Education. Would it be enough to have a HDip and industry experience or would I need an actual degree in IT related discipline? I've read that there is a difference between
"Tutor" jobs and "Teacher" jobs in the ETB with regard to qualifications.

I know for the Teaching council I would have to have degree and HDip according to latest regs.

    Thanks in advance.
