I slept and dreamed that life was beauty...

I saw the followed etched into a stone here in Drogheda (those who know the history of the town sure will know where / what etc - but in short, it's a small stone set up on top of the hill from where Oliver Cromwell hit and defeated Drogheda's protective walls, leading to a massacre etc, in 1649 I believe)

"I slept and dreamed that life was beauty
I wake, and found life a duty"

Says it's by "The Country Tella".

Could someone please help me understand:

1 - What does "The Country Tella" refers to, Googling didn't help!
2 - The lines quoted, seems to be attributed to Confucius, Lord Byron and a few writers. Where's that originally from?

    Thank you!!
