I confirmed with them by email that i would be attending interview.

I still have not heard back from them with any further details. Anyone else in same boat?

Pro: Interviewers friendly enough and chatty enough but obviously keen to keep to timelines. Plenty of chances to cover competency questions and allowed me to save them and go back at the end. Referred to previous examples as well if they felt something was already covered.

CON: Box ticking exercise was more obvious than others interviews you may have done.

Sounds positive. What do you mean by save them? Was it recorded? Who was on your interview panel? Just initials probably shouldn’t name names?

At least it’s over now 9 months after first application

Yes, the interview board were friendly. I haven't done many interviews in my time so my experience is limited. This was probably my second Big interview, but they certainly made me feel at ease.
It was what they said & based on your application & examples. I would have alot of spare examples ready aswell. Alot of my examples were a mix of a few competencies so I had to be mindful of dwelling on the competency I was being asked.
Glad its over & hard to judge how I did. The time flew & I suppose they will go on for a few weeks so just to sit tight till then.

I'd rather not give any interviewer details. but 1 Pas + 4/3 others.
Save=Skip the question for now and come back to it at the end I still had an opportunity to get the tick.

It sounds like the gave you every opportunity to cover the competency by allowing you back to them which is good.
I bet it is nice to have it done and dusted. Fingers crossed for you.

Hi just wondering did they give a guide of how long per competency, is it 7 minutes, I can’t remember.
    Thanks

Yes, 7 mins per competency, 5 in total, as Drive & Commitment is marked on overall performance throughout interview.
They will stop you anyway when time is up & move on to the next competency
Best of luck, do you have interview this week?

I don’t think I will have to worry about them stopping me I will be doing very well to get anywhere near it😂, I have interview on Monday 12th.

Each competency has about 5 sub headings. Do they accept multiple examples to cover each of those or are you expected to give one or two longer examples that cover all sub headings

🀣 you'd be surprised!! The time goes quite quick. They read out the specific bullet points for each competency and then ask a couple of questions. You might really only be talking for 5 mins for each.
The Skype interview was fine also. I actually preferred it to having to travel to Dublin for it.

Best of luck for the 12th, you've a bit of time to practice. I had a week & really only got to recap at the weekend as I am crazy busy at work!!
I wonder how many weeks they are going on for?

Thanks very much for your help, yes not a bad amount of time, I have to start tomorrow. Yes I think it’s great not having to go to Dublin too. Do you need more than the example on the application.

Does anyone know if these interviews are to cover all streams ? I applied for Data Analytics and Economics stream, but not sure it matters at this stage ? Will they refer to the stream in the interview ?

1 interview covers all streams. The board usually confirm at the beginning the streams you've chosen.

I'm in for the same stream. I would think the interviewers would be different depending on the stream. Haven't been able to find out much about my interview panel. When's your interview?

I would have a few extra examples on hand. Every interview will be different I imagine as an answer you give may lead to a question specific to what you've said. They may ask you to explain by way of an example. But whatever they ask will be relative to the competencies of an AO.
    Best of luck!

It depends on what questions they ask. I would definitely have examples ready that you could use to cover all sub headings. Any example could cover all the competencies, just hone in on the competency they are asking.
Its hard to remember everything. After the interview, I was thinking why didn't I say that or I should have used that example, but no point beating myself up about it. If nothing else comes of it, it will be experience for future competitions.
    Best of luck!

Nothing in detail but maybe their background would help me understand their question angle better. I will grasp at any straw that may help me

Ya it is helpful to know backgrounds of those interviewing to have an idea of there knowledge of the requirements of the position. Like, I would think they would have an auditor interviewing for that stream but maybe not for the data analytics stream as they wouldn't have the same knowledge base as the position. Helps to understand how technical specialist knowledge may be and what language to use when giving examples.

Everyone interviewing will be either a current or past employee of Revenue serving in a position above the role of AO. Hope this helps.

It’s not that useful, having interviewed for both HEO/EO/AO and CO roles as well as Garda roles, many of the panels have held senior Positions al the way up to EX-principles , current APs and HEOs, part time lecturers, consultants at various levels. They just divvy the questions out.

This is probably the only interview I had where they had interest in prior work I’ve had with legislation.

I always do a quick search to see if I can find any common ground but nothing more. Best of luck with your interview.

It will be nice to finally reach the end of the process. And hopefully make the panel.

Severe lack of interest on my part probably due to the long wait.

Would say though for anyone still to go to know what their skills are that they will bring to the role of AO (probably clearly write them out and focus on 3 or 4) -
Even if I had of prepped properly i still think this question would have stumped me.

The interviewers are very nice and will prod you for the correct answers.
