I'm reaching out for help or advice here...

I have a set of frames that I got overseas and I can't return. Nobody will put lenses in them because one of the screw-holes is worn so won't fasten well enough to withstand the process of installing the lenses.

As far as I can tell this could be fixed by re-tapping the hole 1 size larger and popping in a screw of the same gauge. I've been to a few opticians and jewellers with this suggestion but they either haven't got what I'm trying to suggest, don't have the tools, or say there's nothing they can do (and that I should look at their frames instead...)

So my question then is are there any hobbyists, jewellers, watchmakers or repairers out there who have a jewellers tap and die kit and who know how to use it? I've used tap and die kits on a larger scale but buying one myself and having a go would be my last resort. I'd rather pay someone who knows what they're at :D

Most rim screws are 1.4mm in diameter so try tap a 1.5 or 1.6 it should do the trick.
