Toric Contact Lenses

    Hi all,

    New to contact lenses. Orders first monthly subscription from Specsavers at €60. Keen to save if possible. Vision direct would be about €40 per month but struggling to find the exact base curve and diamater combo. My BC is 8.6 and diamater is 14.3. The closest I have found is the below which are 8.6/14.2. Presumably I have to get them exactly as per my prescription?

    What are your exact contact lens type? I would be very wary about changing the type of toric lens. They all have different methods of stabilisation and as such some will not sit properly in place on your eyes.
    Focus dailies toric are a very old lense, and pretty crap material to be honest. The reason they are cheaper is the lens, and the material, are over 20 years old. As far as I am aware Ciba Vision have discontinued the manufacture of this lens.

    Try this new contact lens price comparison site aimed at Irish consumers - http://www.comparelenses.ie

    Type in Toric and all the available brands will come right up

    Looks like some useful savings to be had on some brands and will definitely save a lot of time doing manual comparisons across all these sites.

    I have used Waldo and daysoft, found them both excellent and easy to deal with.

    I've used Alensa with no problems. but I don't always find them to be the cheapest. check the prices on http://www.comparelenses.ie first.
