I lurked previously but registered just tonight. I find it utterly bizzare that the forums 'close' at 10pm. I'm fabergasted, the internet has closing times now?

Apparently it used to be a 24 hour forum.

An associate of mine was banned from boards.ie for saying that Hogan Stand was a far superior forum.

I thought it was grand from my experience with it. Helpful posters.

The have a really good forum, very lively and with mostly genuine fans. To be fair it's more specialised than here. Although the GAA forum here has improved immensely.

All comments have to be approved by a moderator before being shown so as to avoid trolling, spam, etc. There'd hardly be a ton of posts between 10pm and 9am the next morning anyway, so you wouldn't miss much, but there's no point having them force mods to stay up all night to approve posts.

There's a wonderful poster on HS named "joseff". He always has insightful posts.

in my experince with forums (and 10 years is a lot for this technology), the bst stuff happens after 10pm at night :D

He's probably the biggest WUM on the entire forum. He's also one of these idiots who has multiple identities

I think the 10pm limit was put on because 10pm is the bedtime of the average Hoganstand poster!!!

No, its because they all have to tune into Failte Isteach and have Donnacha read out their dedications.

It's actually an awful forum riddled with 5 year old kids thinking they are funny.

The only thing I find it useful for is local GAA results

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,739 ✭✭✭johnmcdnl

It's good too a point for underage football from my experience because - all the users are pretty much underage players... - but then you've also got to read all the post saying micky joe smith or bobby mick reilly was amazing today :rolleyes: posted by micky joe smith himself to get himself a bit of praise :rolleyes:

I used to use it for club results but since a club in the county set up a far superior page for results and fixtures that's updated as soon as the referee submits the scores I've stopped using hoganstand...

Micky Joe was great though in fairness :pac:

Sure, you have to be twice as good to be from the south of the county as the north!!
Popular (and sadly true)rumour from Monaghan!!

    Rory Woods was neither :pac:

I think Hoganstand gets a lot of stick but it's a good forum.

A lot of the posters I saw were painfully narrow minded: couldn't see past the 'star forward who scored everything'.

Ah but Rory is Nudies nephew which is like being from the House of David in the bible!

i stick solely to the meath forum on it theres too many clowns going on other county pages over there just to stir the pot.theres one bloke from cavan being on wumming non stop on the meath one the last two weeks yet his posts are still approved.and all the talk of taking over the hill by some of our support and kildares support and louths support etc all summer has being pitiful in fact im on my way back over to point out if anyone took over the hill yesterday it was roscommon :P

no doubt the OP will get banned for postin this thread, or is it really one rule for one section of boards and another for another section?
