Can anyone say how things are looking for next week.
Am i right in saying it’s looking fairly dry??

Depends where you will be in the country.
There is the threat of heavy showers or thunderstorms in Leinster and eastern Munster during Monday and Tuesday.

Normally the west is worst for rainfall but not next week. So if you are in the west it should be mainly dry.

Met Éireann forecast on 9 news did say there could be showery rain for a time in the east on Monday but this is not nailed down yet.

Is it still possible those showers will miss Ireland on Monday. MTC hinted at this also this morning. How's it it looking for Monday ??

Based on current guidance, it looks wet for most of the east on Monday. However there will be a good deal of dry weather for much of the week even in the east. It looks to become more unsettled more widely going into next weekend.

The models look different again today with the track and strength of the LP system at the end of next week as you would imagine being so far out .Got the added interest of some bit of the possible remnants of Tropical Storm Kylie getting into he mix. ECM in particular shows high rainfall accumulation potential but this of course will be tweaked over the coming days, not uncommon for these totals to go down rather then up but always a possibility of heavy rains when a source of tropical air mass being brought into the mix. Currently not showing excessive winds but far too early to know what way it pans out. Something to keep an eye on anyway.

More model consensus now of a wet and windy spell from Weds through to Fri all associated with a LP system ending up close to our shores or possibly tracking over us, a lot of rain falling especially in the Southern half of the country and the West and turning a bit cooler towards the end of the week.

How are things into the week after 22nd August? Was hoping to get a few days away somewhere

Unsettled, in a word. Things could change a bit day to day but pressure is low over and around Ireland. Spells of rain and or showers each day and maybe the odd drier day if lucky, best chance the further east or southeast you go.

Unfortunately when Atlantic systems come back they stay with us for a long time. Here’s hoping it’s one of those rare occasions that’s just brief however the remnants of hurricanes affecting the east coast US at this time of year can often throw a spanner in the works and keep us unsettled.

And of course I'm going in the opposite direction

Predominately Lp's out to +240hrs , jet is the wrong side of us and could be extremely wet.

We are now entering the final week of summer. This entire summer has been very dissapointing especially for the greater Dublin area in Leinster and parts of Cork/Kerry with a summer dominated by cloud, often damp/wet and relatively cool conditions. How is this final week of Summer 2020 shaping up as we head into the first week of Autumn?

The poor weather is set to continue with showers or longer spells of rain on a daily basis, no signs of any dry or warmer weather heading our way any time soon. This mornings runs show a generally unsettled scene with temperatures either average or below average over the next 7 to 14 days.

Tuesday 26 of August is looking very autumnal with a deep area of low pressure crossing Ireland. It doesn't look like it will be as extreme as Storm Ellen in terms of wind, but it will be windy everywhere and possibly alot of rainfall involved with that.

    GFSOPEU06_84_1.png

After Tuesday temperatures will lower further with a chilly northerly and upper air temperatures getting close to 0C. This cooler air will also feature lots of showers or longer outbreaks of rain with temperatures struggling to make it into double figures in places, temperatures could be as low as 9 or 10C in some places during rainfall, but it may be slightly milder across the south and south-east.

    GFSOPUK06_129_5.png

From next weekend no real change, temperatures generally low to mid teens with low pressures staying close to or over Ireland in a generally wet Atlantic driven pattern. At the moment it does not appear that we are going to be welcomed by a traditional back to school week of settled, sunny and warm weather with the unsettled pattern persisting right to the end of FI with more low pressures lining up to affect Ireland.

Current rainfall predictions estimate between 60 and 110mm of rain over the next 10 days with highest rainfall values across the west, but everywhere seen generally a very wet scene.
