I find it quite amazing how fake news is defined.

Do you ever notice if you're an expert in a topic, whenever you read an article about that topic on mainstream news source (e.g. the BBC), you're always scratching your head thinking what is this nonsense?

For example, I'm a HIV expert and practically every article on HIV is wrong. It's always a mix of misinformation and old wives tales. I've also a strong background is statistics, and I constantly see statistics being abused to make fake points.

And then there's all the political agendas. Look how many BBC articles are written from a feminist perspective.

It's become very difficult to find genuinely truthful news sources.

I quite like the commentator Tim Pool. He at least tries to be fair.

Alex Jones was always kind of ridiculous, but he has really lost the plot these days.

Expert? Any link to published papers?

Of course there are negative consequences, but the positives outweighs the negatives.

You think there are no consequences to curbing speech?

You should try to think it through. When you properly understand the benefits of free speech, it's impossible to not want it.

So, no - you do not see consequences. You could use the same argument to disband police, promote pedophilia or declare war.

I've no problem saying I don't agree with free speech because I do see the consequences. And no, they do not outweigh the preservation of human life.

When people are caught inciting hatred and promoting violence you better believe I want them censored.

And when the pretend to be honest when they lie, pretend to be open when they're racist and pretend to want peace when they are trying to share people into commuting violence acts they should be called out on it, not idolised

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    College + employment.

I don't work in that area anymore. But I still read the papers.

I just said there are negative consequence, but it doesn't fit your narrative so you have to pretend I said there are no consequences. This is literally what I wrote in response to you:
Of course there are negative consequences

You have a very shallow knowledge of this topic.

Try to think through this little problem:

How do you define hate speech?

    Anti black? OK.
    Anti gay? OK.
    Anti muslim? OK.
    Anti jew? OK.
    Anti fat? OK.
    Anti skinny? OK.
    Anti ginger? OK.
    Anti Irish? OK.
    Anti conservative? OK.
    Anti whatever-people-get-offended-about? OK?

Seriously, try to draw the line for what is and is not hate speech. It's impossible.

Surely that would be a doctor, no?

    Are you a Doctor?

In the UK there are laws against inciting hatred and promoting violence but Tommy Robinson has never been charged with them.

Panorama should have been about how he's been harrassed and persecuted by the state over the years for expressing his opinions.

No one can be an expert without explaining their qualifications to you?

Do you have a slight ego by any chance?

No but when someone self declares themselves expert I expect proof!

Well you are either a scientist or a doctor who has extensively studied HIV and probably has been published.

    Which one are you?

    No need for a CV.

Yeah, well that's your problem, and says nothing about me.

Do you ask people for proof in real life? Why are you doing it online? Why do you find it difficult to be civil?

    How am I uncivil?

I have yet to met someone who self declared themselves as an expert in real life

Have you never heard of context?

Go back and read the post where I made the claim.

Do you think I am walking around the street, shaking people's hands and saying "Hello, I'm an expert"?

Is that how you see things, or are you able to understand context?

Yes, you're hassling a stranger online to prove their education and qualifications.

Do you do this in real life?

Why are you doing it online?

Can you really not see the problem here?

The same reason you have people participating in multi-level marketing scams.

You made the claim, I asked for evidence. Simple really

    That's not fair.

I think a more fair example is people who support antifa.

Both are mostly inventing their enemy, both are extremists (extreme left vs extreme right).
