Chili Peppers, Moby and The Flaming Lips... that's a pretty random billing. Not bad for a Point gig.

Where was the SFX Theatre? The last gig I remember being there was Tool way back on their Lateralus Tour in 2001 or something. Put it in to Google Street View and didn't find any building that resembled a theatre.

I'd love to see any pictures of what the Top Hot in Dun Laoghaire looked like on the outside. Used to go to the Fun Factory as a kid... good sweaty times. :)

Despite her name being on the ticket, Sheryl Crow didn't play that Point show, but I don't remember why. She was replaced by Big Country, whose drummer then got sick, so they played the set without him.

As far as my memory goes Ferry played in 94. Sheryl Crow cancelled due to illness.

Off-topic: I remember stumbling upon a discussion (possibly on "80s bands") on Dave Fanning's radio show only a few years ago, and Big Country were mentioned in a context which suggested that nobody on the panel seemed to know that Stuart was dead.

Talking of Bryan Ferry, his new album is out this w/end and Brian Eno did some work on it so it should be interesting. A host of others involved including David Gilmour, the album is called Olympia.

My first concert was Oasis in Parc Ui Caoimhe and it had a pic of the Gallagher Brothers on it and was so cool. I thought all gig tickets would be like it. I've not had one ticket with a non-promoter or ticketmaster standard since. Very disappointing.

Must post a pic if noone has already, also have the Nirvana ticket for the RDS dated the night Kurt was found dead.

What were the Top Hot and SFX like as venues? I remember the Fun Factory being quite big through my young eyes. This is what the Top Hat looks like now from the back (though I reckon it's about two stories higher than what it was before).

Were you sad to see those venues go?

That Oasis ticket is one of the last "individual" tickets I can remember getting (in Ireland at least). I agree with you that it's a shame, especially with all the booking/service charge bolloxology that we're reamed with these days.

Used to have a collage of all my tickets done in Photoshop but I can't find the image any more. I'll scan some of the older ones later if I can.
