    Hi
We bought a house and while it has a plug for phone inside it has no power, the nearest pole is about 100 metres away at the top of the road, would we have to get connection like a newly built house, how much does it cost to get a line brought to the house or is it free?

Ring any provider of your choice that provides landline / VDSL (broadband) services over copper.

The wiring is maintained by OpenEir, which is a separate business unit. They provide wholesale access services to a whole range of providers, including 'Eir' the retail arm of the company.

You've no reason to start off with eir retail, just pick whatever provider suits you best and ask them. Most will accept new customers and setup an installation.

Also plug a phone in and if there's a dial tone dial 199000 and a voice message will read out your line's number.
