Are you thinking they might pull the plug on Dak? Is the Dalton thing a shot across the bow to make Dak aware that they have a fail safe?

I like Dak but I do wonder if he is worth the kind of money he is looking for. They really should have wrapped all this up last off season for a reasonable number as soon as he eligible for an extension.

I don't see how this really impacts any thoughts on pulling the plug, as Dalton is only signed for a small one year deal so if they drop Dak then Dalton will look for starter money. It does protect them against Dak sitting out, but that risk is already quite low with the new CBA.

For Dallas, he will be a high level back up and there is a chance that a QB goes down and they can trade Dalton for a decent return on a minimal investment.

From a Dalton perspective, this is probably a very wise move as well. At worst one year at home in a low tax state but a chance that if he gets any game time, either with a Dak injury or traded, he can set a team up to overpay him like the Jags did with Foles.

On Dak's contract, $100m+ guaranteed money is basically the minimum for starter QBs these days. A lesser player in Goff and a sick note like Wentz both got $110m guaranteed in the last 2 off seasons. For all the talk of Dalton signing giving the Cowboys leverage, Jerry simply messed up by not signing him earlier and now they're in the situation where they have to pay him top money or he'll walk and get it elsewhere.

Apparently the 4 non-conference games for each team will be scheduled first, so the AFC v NFC games. The thinking being that if they can't start on time they can drop those games and go to a 12 game season while keeping the divisional and in-conference games intact.

    Solid reasonings.

Broncos v Buccs first up so.

it seems as though thats not the case. A few schedule leaks are appearing & it looks quite normal. For example I found out the Lions are at home against the Bears week 1.

Usually the leaks are reliable enough.

If they pile the divisional games at the front half of the season do you think it’s feasible they’re planning for less games? Seen that mentioned a few times.

A three hour show on the NFL schedule shows how far this pandemic has impacted life.

Sound logic in fairness except the eagles are heavily rumoured to be playing the
    redkins in week 1
but I like the playing of non conference games first.

Lots of the media basing their strength of schedule on the performance of teams from last year, which is a bit pointless given how quickly things can change in the NFL.

There is obviously no exact science for it but below is how the bookies feel about the difficulty of schedules
