IMO: he has zero chance of winning this case, because TYT was repeating allegations made by lawyers of the Sandy Hook victims & families, whom alleged that Jones had sent child pornography to the families and them, earlier this year.

He was recently exonerated from this claim by the FBI: the emails were on infowars mailservers, and was swept up in all court materials pertaining to Sandy Hook, there was evidence to show nobody ever opened the received messages, they were basically spam from netizens that wanted to lash out at Jones by emailing him kiddie porn (the same way some people might just email "well, **** you then," instead of committing a felony).

I don't know what InfoWars wants from this, other than an out of court settlement; even then he's suing the parents of Sandy Hook and IDK that he would survive those optics.

This also becomes about - ironically - whether a Tweet is a living document or not :pac:

InfoWars host Alex Jones filed a lawsuit on Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, accusing The Young Turks–a progressive online news show–and Brianna Wu–a Massachusetts Democrat running for the House of Representatives–of libeling the plaintiff. The defamation lawsuit focuses on the false claim that Jones “sent child porn to Sandy Hook parents.”

“Once uncovered, the FBI cleared JONES and his employer, and JONES was the identified target victim. Defendants instead told the world it was JONES who sent child porn to the victims of school shootings,” the lawsuit said. “Jones, publicly, and through counsel, continually requested corrections from the offenders. These Defendants refused. This was libel. This suit follows.”

As Law&Crime reported before, lawyers representing families of Sandy Hook mass shooting victims in a defamation suit accused Jones of sending electronic files containing child pornography as part of the discovery process; the plaintiffs sued Jones for his “years-long campaign of abusive and outrageous false statements in which Jones and the other defendants have developed, amplified and perpetuated claims that the Sandy Hook massacre was staged and that the 26 families who lost loved ones that day are paid actors who faked their relative’s deaths.”

Jones’s lawyer in the latest defamation suit, Robert Barnes (who has penned columns for Law&Crime before), addressed the child porn controversy, saying the FBI “cleared JONES and his employer,” and identified Jones as the “target victim”:
In May 23, 2018, Infowars, JONES’ employer, was sued by a range of people, including those related to victims of the Sandy Hook shooting. During the litigation period, Infowars’ corporate email accounts were attacked by online cybercriminals ideologically allied with the Defendants, with spyware and malware, claiming to be Sandy Hook related emails, by including Sandy Hook terms in the emails. Hidden and embedded in the emails the hackers sent to various Infowars email addresses were images and videos of child pornography. The emails were never opened by anyone at Infowars. The court in the Sandy Hook case required Infowars to turn over any and all emails that included any reference to Sandy Hook. It appears the hackers who tried to plant the emails on Infowars’ servers were aware of this discovery process, and deliberately used Sandy Hook terms in the emails to create a false controversy. By court order, all those emails were turned over, including unopened emails. In that process, the lawyers discovered that someone had been trying to plant child porn on Infowars computers under the guise of Sandy Hook emails. The FBI was contacted regarding the email exchange and subsequently discovered that these cybercriminals intentionally attacked Infowars, JONES’ employer. Importantly, the FBI concluded that the emails were archived and were found to have never been opened by any member of Infowars.com. No one at Infowars had any knowledge of the content; JONES was the intended victim.

A tweet sent from The Young Turks’ official account is still online. It contains a link that leads to a YouTube video that has apparently been removed, but the tweet saying “Alex Jones Sent Child Porn To Sandy Hook Parents” remains. So does Barnes’s retraction and apology demand.

This is libel. FBI identified Jones as the VICTIM of someone sending malware with hidden links to child porn never opened or seen by Jones. Jones never sent anything to Sandy Hook parents & never sent child porn to anybody. Retract & apologize, or get sued.

This is shocking, even by Alex Jones standards. He didn’t just send child porn to the #SandyHook families, he threatened to murder them on the air.

Libel. FBI identified Jones as VICTIM of a Jones-hating troll sending malware with hidden child porn links to Infowars. Never opened. Attorneys uncovered when all emails ever sent in were provided in discovery. Jones did not send anything to the families. Retract & delete.

“This is shocking, even by Alex Jones standards,” Wu tweeted. “He didn’t just send child porn to the #SandyHook families, he threatened to murder them on the air.”

The plaintiff said the defendants “launched a campaign of lies and libels against their media competitor and ideological opponent […] virally spread one of the worst smears that can be spread about anyone: accusing someone of one of the most infamous federal felony crimes, even though defendant knew JONES was actually the victim of that crime.”

The plaintiff seeks a jury trial and claims it will be shown that damages “far exceed $75,000.00” — “not including interest, court costs, and attorneys’ fees.”

Law&Crime has reached out to the defendants for comment and will update this space if there is one.

Well he has a point, the malicious files were never opened by Jones and were sent as part of a discovery of a cache of files sent to the plantiffs. Jones might be guilty of bad administration/organisation but not of *deliberately* sending malicious files

Inadvertent seems to be the word here

I would agree that TYT/etc need to retract and apologise - otherwise I see Jones winning that one

That boils down to whether the tweet was crafted with malicious intent at the time, which it doesn't appear to be. It would be kind of absurd to expect that every time someone gets cleared of an allegation, that the court of public opinion (social media) should be retroactively purged of any references to the event.

Ah okay, I didn't read into it too deeply

The cases against him are proceeding well, and this sideshow might be a sign of desperation

Alex deserves to win he has been treated disgracefully by the lamestream media presstitutes and social media who wanted him taken down due to his viewing figures. He had a bigger audience than CNN and was making them look stupid.

Nothing to do with CNN. Families of victims of a mass shooting have brought a defamation lawsuit against him (he clams the shooting was a hoax and the parents are actors)

Where do people come up with this crap? The bit in bold is cringeworthy, do you go around speaking like this in real life?

He was 'taken down' because he was spewing bile and hatred. He literally stoked people into charging into a pizza parlour with an assault rifle demanding that the kids be released from the paedophile ring in the basement.

Do me a favour, and have a think about that for a second. Imagine you were a transition year student out earning a few bob. Or maybe it was your father's pizzeria or whatever. Bottom line is, there was somebody working in that place when a lunatic charged in, pointing an M4 at your face, screaming about letting the poor kids out of the basement. Imagine that was you. What would you say? Think of the internal struggle going on in your mind as one half of your brain says "we don't even have a basement, though", while the other half is going "DO NOT SAY THAT!...Do not say it!.......He'll think you're in on the whole thing".

Don't even get me started on the Sandy Hook thing.

Fact is, he's literally the exact opposite of what he claims to be.......Someone who purports to be lifting the veil and showing the real truth of the world, while simultaneously playing on the insecurities of the "woke" brigade and leading them down a merry path for his own financial gain.

The man is a charlatan, proclaiming that he speaks the truth yet what happens when he's hauled into court and there's any chance of real repercussions for his vitriolic nonsense?............it's all an act, your honour, I don't really mean any of it.

Anybody, and I mean ANYBODY, who falls for his schtick is a fcuking moron. He's a modern-day snake-oil salesman.

    Maybe I'm missing something here.

The Young Turks made an allegation against Alex Jones. (Repeating the lawyers as you state)

It has since been established by the FBI that the allegation is incorrect.

If what you say is correct why doesnt Alex Jones have a case if the TYT were repeating false allegations.

I can only assume, from what you mention that TYT reported this in such a way as to make it absolutely clear to everyone that they were simply repeating false allegations.

I havent seen what was done or said but given the animosity that exists between the parties I expect this to get ugly.

He's defending himself against allegations of sending child pornography. It's been demonstrated that this is false. How exactly is this a sign of desperation?

I have to disagree Alex clearly did not know what happened at Sandy Hook and his deposition showed it.  Alex Jones, in my opinion, is not a nice guy. He has an audience of millions so there a responsibility upon him to do proper research before claiming there was no kids killed at this school and was all staged. I agree the mainstream media are not real researchers either, but I see no issue them criticising Alex Jones over this.
