Bass Guitar Effect Suggestions?

    Hi, im looking for any advice on a bass guitar effects pedal. I play in a five piece rock band. Sometimes either guitarist might not be available. Would anyone suggest a bass effect when playing as a four piece to get a more fuller sound to compensate for the missing guitar?

    Octaver, distortion, or a good compressor should help. Even an equaliser should help booat your mids, and fill in some of the guitar frequencies.
