Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    What will happen from feb 1st when uk leaves eu,Will we be liable for more import duties over the 200e flat rate at present,ie vat etc

    From the revenue site:
    Post-Brexit, if you import a vehicle from the United Kingdom (UK), this will be treated as an import from a non- European Union (EU) country. You will find comprehensive information about the customs procedures in our Customs Traders and Agents section.


    Used vehicles
    A vehicle brought into the State from the UK before 1 February 2020 can be registered as normal up until 1 March 2020. To register, customers must provide documentation to prove that the vehicle was acquired prior to 1 February.

    You can relax and take the rest of year.

    The UK has had a general election since then, passed the Withdrawal Agreement and will enter the "transition period" at the end of January. The transition period will last 11 months until 31 December 2020.

    Nothing changes during those 11 months.

    The UK government has stated it will not ask for an extension to this. (Although it could ask for an extension of 1 or 2 years, but has to request it by 30 June 2020.)

    EU: "The agreement, endorsed by the European Council on 25 November 2018, includes a transition period up to the end of 2020, during which the EU will treat the UK as if it were a Member State, with the exception of participation in the EU institutions and governance structures. This transition period can be extended by up to 1 or 2 years to be decided by 30 June 2020." https://ec.europa.eu/ireland/news/key-eu-policy-areas/brexit_en
