Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Does anyone want to hazard a guess for August?

    I'm looking to go west with the family and deciding on the first or 2nd half of the month.:confused:

    no way of knowing this far away, anything can happen but the safest bet on August weather is showers and some sunny spells and 2 to 3 bands of rain crossing the country on a weekly basis. temp 16-19c.

    As Gonzo says, there really is no way of knowing. August can be a varied month, being cold one year to very hot the next. Broadly speaking, August is a largely pleasant, quiet month in the west but showers can occasionally pop up giving the odd deluge. Frontal rainbands more likely to occur during the 2nd half of the month but again, yearly variation will dictate. The attached image (C/O Vedur.is) shows the average rainfall, pressure and 850 temps over the eastern Atlantic for the month of August which may give you a rough idea as to what to expect.
