Review-Army Armament R31

    Hi folks,

I've recently purchased an Army Armament R31 (C02 1911) and thought it might be helpful to someone to have a 1000 shot review.

TLDR- Its fine. Decent price and feel, mags are absolutely crap.

I purchased from Taiwan gun, got a second mag, and paid approx 70 euro for it. Decent price I thought. Purpose was to practice pistol shooting drills without using a live firearm, and maybe take up skirmishing at some point in the future.

Pros- Feels weighty, its full metal. Pleasant in the hand, controls actuate well, nice finish and fit is pretty good. Its a A1 style so pretty basic. I appreciate the grip safety, even if its unnecessary. I'm a leftie shooter so the thumb safety is ignored. Its been accurate out to 25 meters, hitting tin cans consistently. Sights are fixed, but mine were set right. I painted the front sight bright white and its quick to line up. For fixed irons, they're excellent. With a full C02 bulb, it kicks enough to feel like a firearm (dies off quite quickly)

Cons- Mags and gas retention absolutely suck. Initially was getting around 50 shots per bulb. However, around the 800 shot mark both mags started to seriously leak.Between 10-15 shots, and the remaining C02 would vent into the grip.

Also, the mags are fragile. I contacted the supplier about returning the leaking mags, and managed to drop one boxing them up (mea cupla). The feed lip broke clean off. Not great, especially since I now can't return the mag. Army Armament mags seem to have a reputation for being bad, and my sample size of 2 supports this.

Overall- Gun is excellent, and i can't fault it for the money. The big problem is the magazines. They're expensive comparatively (gun was 50 euro, magazine is 20 euro on average) and they're trash. Teflon tape, silicon oil combo means getting maybe 30 shots per bulb now, but inconsistent.

    GUN-9/10

    Magazines 3/10

Hope this is useful to someone.
