I am currently working in the Pharmaceutical industry and have been for a number of years in a laboratory based environment. I have a Biomedical Science degree along with a Biomedical Diagnostics Masters.
Recently I have been looking at trying to get out of the Pharma industry and have been thinking of Medical Scientist... One draw back however is that my Biomedical Science degree was not an accredited course for becoming a Medical Scientist.
I've heard through the media and word of mouth recently that there's a large shortage now of Medical Scientists with covid and they are possibly looking at ways to quicken up the hiring process. Does anybody in the know or working in the field have any idea as to how I might track any updates with regards to hiring for Medical Scientists without needing accreditation or any conversion courses on offer I could look into. I have a large amount of lab experience and a background in Biology so feel like I would be a good fit but it's hard to find a way in!
    Any help appreciated!

There is no way that a Medical Scientist could be recruited "without needing accreditation". From March next year the title will be a protected title and registration with CORU will be mandatory.

You may not need a full conversion course. It depends on what your degree covered. Currently the University of Ulster is the only institution on the island of Ireland offering a course. TUD may develop an MSc but they don't provide anything at the moment.
You can apply to CORU and when refused request a breakdown of where you dont meet the criteria. Then use that to see if any of the colleges would cater for you. You'll need a placement in a clinical lab though and they are only available through the colleges.

Private companies like Eurofins Biomnis provide services similar to Medical Laboratories to the pharmaceutical sector.

With your experience you may be able to gain employment as a clinical scientist http://www.iacs.ie/. I believe they are making a conversion masters course available now to allow skilled people to become medical scientists, although the academy has form for changing their minds on who qualifies or not.
