Arcade locations all over the world

    Hey Guys,

My name is Pieter and I am gathering all of the worlds arcade locations in 1 single map. Currently I have added 183 locations on the map which is located at arcadeuniverse.net and I am looking for much more. My goal right now is to have 500 locations on the map by the 1st of July 2016.

If you would like to add an arcade to the map please feel free to let me know. Criteria are that the location needs at least 10 arcade machines (so pinball machines excluded but a nice bonus if they have any).

Are there any arcades in Ireland still open / operational either commercial or from hobbiest?

    Regards,

    Pieter

Off the top of my head, the only ones I can think of are Dr. Quirkeys on O'Connell street and the various LeisurePlex facilities in Dublin. What qualifies as an arcade? A single machine? Or a premises dedicated 100% to arcade games?

Actually there is one in Courtown in Co. Wexford too called Fisherman's Wharf :)

Really? What do they have there?

I know a few places with games, like The Dome in Carlow, but none of them have ten games.

Been a year or more since I was there, but it was a pretty safe collection of games, a time crisis clone, Sega rally clone, but the most interesting one was where you sat into a turret sort of seat and were basically picking off people a la D-Day

In Cork theres the extremely non maintained arcade in the Leisure Plex.

There is also a small Arcade in The Planet but might be under the quota of 10 Arcade Machines.

The Liberty Arcade and Casino near Market Green Shopping Centre in Midleton.

Been a while since I was there but think they still had a few arcade games, Sega Rally I definitely remember.

Theres an arcade in skerries that has a few old games like operation thunderbolt, afterburner and a few others.

Are we talking old school arcade games here, or the new gizmo machines, giant guns etc that plague arcades these days?

Galway has Leisure Land on Headford road and SeaPoint in salt hill.
While both technically fit your criteria for what constitutes an arcade sadly, both are in a very sorry state indeed.
Loads of screen burn in and very few noteworthy titles.

Hi RedXIV, I cannot seem to find this arcade. Is it part of the Mint casino on South Main Street?

Arcades to my definition are locations with a minimum of 10 arcade machine (excluding pinball machines) that are accessible by public either for free or by paying admission fee or pay per play either through a commercial company or a hobbyist club. So no private collections. Other machines are allowed as part of the location as long as the minimum of 10 arcade machines is present.

They seem to have quite a nice collection of games actually based on the pictures I found.

Anything, something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue :D. As long as it is arcade I am cool. No redemption or ticket games though.

So would not recommend anyone going there I suppose?

Can you help me understand which one this is? I cannot seem to find it. Maybe you have a street name for me?

Anyway, thank you all for helping with the locations, great to see you guys helping out on this.

I think Century City behind Cineworld on Parnell Square has around 10 machines I recall. Most of them light-guns, think a racer or two and DDR stuff.

Star Leisure in Bray, Co. Wicklow was being renovated last time I was there, but they'd hit the 10 whenever their machines are out in full force again. Lightguns, Tank! Tank! Tank!, Outrun 2 and Afterburner.

Also added these 2, thank you for the additions.

Right now the map as more than 200 locations worldwide, keep those arcade locations coming as I need an additional 300 to hit the goal :D

Hey Guys, any more suggestions to add to the map? Feel free to have a look here: arcadeuniverse.net/arcade-map/

I am sure there are plenty more locations in Ireland/UK or the rest in the world that you could help me with. Any help is highly appreciated.

What kind of cabs are there these days?

Remember going down the slide on Perks in what was like a sack for potatoes! :pac:

The Perks in Youghal that you visited might be a bit different from the one I was at lol. This one is just a few minutes in off the Cork to Waterford road and not on the beachfront. That one appears to be closed now.

This one is full of video games, coin pushers, claw machines, pool and snooker and bowling along with a big ball pool for kids as well and I think they have some sort of laser tag going on out the back of that as well. Like the Quasar in the Leisureplex on MacCurtain street in the city Id say.

I think I was in the newer one a good few years back also.

They had either a World Rally or World Rally 2 cab on the left near where you walk in:

    Hi Jackie,

Cologne Germany? Yes there is. It is called Giga Center. Feel free to check the map for the location and URL of the arcade to check the opening times.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Link to the map

Thank you, I appreciate that. I am not allowed to post links yet due to too user limitations.

Currently the map as 257 locations. If you have more you would like to add for Ireland or any other country please let me know. The location should have a minimal of 10 cabinets though and preferably a website or facebook page would be great to have (although not a must have).

I will be going to Paris again in May and will visit Arcade Street again. A great arcade to be honest. It would be great if more countries in Europe would have such locations :D

Thank you all for your contribution on this project. Currently we have 324 locations on the map worldwide. It is looking quite good. If you have more arcades to add please let me know here or through the website. Thanks guys! :D

Alrighty Guys, we now have 350 arcades on the map, if you have more suggestions please feel free to let me know. Furthermore I am looking for more Canadian (b)arcades. There are currently only 6 on the map and I am sure there are plenty more. Does anyone know of any maybe more in the east of Canada?
    Cheers!
