I recently had a leak in my bathroom which flooded the floor and downstairs living room, I employed a loss assessor and received notice of settlement. My question is can I hire my own workman to take on the work or do I need to go to someone recommended by loss assessor ? Was never in this situation before sorry if its a stupid question :)

Happened to a family member a few years back. I think they had to use an approved contractor.

I suppose each insurance company is different.

You need to contact your insurer.

"You must not proceed with full repairs without our approval. We may, at our option, nominate a contractor to carry out the repairs"
