Customs : SAD Form

Is a SAD form (customs clearance form ) required for Revenue if buying a car from the North that was born in the North . Eg first registered in June 2020 in Northern Ireland were no duty or vat apply but still have to pay VRT .

The critical date is the date of importation into Ireland.

If it is after 31DEC2020 then duty (likely to be 10%) and VAT (from 01MAR2021 up to 23% again) is payable in addition to VRT.

Revenue / Customs don't accept "forms" all imports (and exports) are submitted electronically through AIS or AEP. Therefore you need to employ a customs clearance agent to submit the SAD electronically to Customs.
