Really cocked up and hope there’s help out there!!
Trying to extend the length of my speaker cables. Bought wire (guy in electrical shop said it was fine).

After snipping my speaker wire......i realised the speaker wire is single strand & I bought a double strand wire. So 2 questions really :
    * can the double strand wire join a single one
    * if not can I rejoin where I split the cable ?????

A speaker needs two wires to operate. I suspect you have a single cable with and outer stranded wire (Screen) and an inner core. Open the existing cable and check it out. The core will be insulated from the outer strands. This type of cable will give some noise reduction and limit interference.
You can try joining up the new cable to the core and outer strand (screen) and check it out. Depending on the cable length and outside interference etc. you may have degraded performance.

Always best to replace like for like.
