I have 4K in prize bonds as of today! Going by an above poster's predictions, that means that I now have double the chance of winning at some point during the next 7 years ;) lol! It's a great way of saving though.

Is there a more simple way to make a Prize Bond application rather than the paper form? Also I've been following this thread and other forums but have yet to hear from anyone who has won more than one thousand euro regardless of the amount invested - or maybe I've missed it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 735 ✭✭✭hblock21

Is there a link to a page whch details how to gauge the year of the winning prize bond by the number?
    Thanks

I have never won more than the minimum, but a good friend of mine won €20k shortly after purchasing €30k worth about 5 years ago.

In very rough terms 1957 to mid 1980's no prefix or single letter prefix, then two letter prefix. First Euro denominated bond DL000001. End of two letter and start of three letter prefixes mid 2015. Newest winner last week was AUE prefix.

More bonds have been issued since mid 2015 than before. So well over 50% of winners every week are three letter bonds. Local papers sometimes pick up on the Press Release, and publish the year of the 50K winner.

Not for your initial purchase. For this you must use the application form and send it off with the Anti Money Laundering documents, proof of PPSN and your cheque. Once you do this (and it can be for as little as €25) you will be registered for online purchases which will make your second and subsequent purchases a lot easier (notwithstanding the fact that the prize bond company’s processes and systems appear to be falling to bits recently)

Nothing for me. 10 winners in the USA today, a few more than usual. 9 of them are two letter bonds from before 2015. I have noticed this most weeks, very few three letter bonds. Probably something to do with emigration.

This week the 50K winner would be from around 2013. The million winner in June was a 2011 bond.

How big is your batch, don't be shy, €50euro for me today on my 10k batch from the AIP series, last win on Oct 2and on my 30k batch ADX series, another poster here post €xxxx which means absolutely nothing, useless information if we want to gauge odds total wins this year €150euro, not great but better than deposit interest rates.
