I used to be good at this, but then I had children. Otherwise known as an arrow to the knee.

And another one to add into my PS4 list:

    PS4

Horizon: Zero Dawn - great, great game, really loved the story, the world and most of the gameplay. My type of gaming experience
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Remastered - the first Uncharted I've played and I quite enjoyed it! A male Lara Croft is what I expected and just what I got
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Remastered - really enjoyed this one, great story and tasty gameplay. Big improvement over the original

    Nintendo Switch

Celeste - fairly difficult platformer; was thrilled/surprised to finish it without needing to resort to the 'easy mode' help, was very enjoyable for what it was. And really suited the Switch's portability I think.

    [Xbox One]

    Borderlands 2

Brilliant game, played it a few years ago on PC. It's such a great game series and I cannot wait till 3 is released. Moving onto the DLC now.

First game I've finished this year, the first Spyro from the trilogy. Platinum, easy, and will be going for the others. Needed a game like this.

All three are easy platinum or my case 1000G. The flying sections in the first are the hardest out of the three games.

Infamous: Second Son. - Played this at launch but went back for the platinum. Had to replay the game from start to finish on Expert difficulty to acquire it. Expert difficulty is not that much different from normal. You take more damage and enemies are more bullet spongey and spawn more often but with so many evasive power sets it was a breeze. Still a fun game and graphically holds up too.

Ugh, this game. I played it through on good on normal the first time around and played through on expert on the evil side to get the plat. Little did I know that you need to change the difficulty in game before starting a new game, otherwise the intro will be in the same difficulty, so I finished it and the Plat didn't pop. I should have it, but I refuse to play through the whole game again, a 3rd time, just because they didn't make that clear, and just because I had a 15 minute section at the start that was on normal... Argh!

Borderlands 2: Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage (DLC)

Good DLC, more of the same which is a good thing.

    Ace Combat 7
    Dragon Quest 8
    MegaMan
    Megaman 2
    Super Mario Bros
    Megaman 3
    MegaMan 4
    Metal Gear

    Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake

Played on the HD collection for PS3. Improves upon the original in every way. It's a real gem of a game and holds up really well. Had a lot of fun with it and the soundtrack is incredible.

It took me slightly over 50 hours but I finally got the platinum for Lego City Undercover. I enjoyed the main story quite a lot as it's different from other Lego games, it's very much a GTA light. Full of movie and game references, it's funny throughout. There's a large open world after the story is completed with a huge amount of collectibles which did become a bit of a chore by the end.

EDIT: Just to add another game I completed over the course of Sunday and Monday - Nightmares From the Deep 2: The Sirens Call. It's another hidden object puzzle game from Artifex Mundi. Again not too challenging and a good way to unwind from more challenging bigger games.

    [Xbox One]

Borderlands 2: Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt (DLC)

Played it before on PC a few years ago and the same as last time once you start the DLC the enemies are significantly stronger than you are used to but once you get to grips with it you can kill them at ease.

I completed three short enough games over the last week. Sherlock Holmes: The Devils Daughter is the sequel to the original Sherlock game. It's fun but straightforward game with dodgy voice acting at times but decent plot. My Brother Rabbit is a new type of Artifex Mundi game with lovely visuals and really nice music. It's essentially one large hidden object puzzle with regular puzzles thrown in. it's very short but relaxing game. Nightmares From the Deep is standard Artifex Mundi fare, hidden objects and puzzles.

I think it's time I played a AAA game again!

Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep (DLC)

More of the same, makes me cannot wait for Borderlands 3. I even beat the 4 dragon raid bosses.

    [Xbox One]

Borderlands 2: Commander Lilith and the Fight for Sanctuary (DLC)

Much the same as above and even beat the raid boss also.

Mind you I still cannot beat the Damn last raid boss from main game.

Really should have been adding the games I completed this year to this thread as I can't remember any now :pac: But ...

    The Turing Test (Xbox one)
Developed by Bulkhead Interactive and published by Square Enix, it's a first-person puzzle game set in the future. Very much like Portal. Verrry much.
The story follows Ava and you are a member of a research team sent to Europa (Moon of Jupiter)

It's currently on Xbox Game Pass and it's worth a shot. The game has good progression in the sense new intriguing puzzle elements are introduced as you play along. Kind of gets dragged out towards the end I feel. Maybe a bit too many levels. Graphics and sound are good as is the atmosphere.

From what I read it's the developers second game.

Just got the platinum for Lego Ninjago The Movie Video Game. The only reason I played it was because it was on PS Now. The story is extremely short, less than 5 hours to complete. The remainder of the game is the standard Lego fare of collecting gold bricks etc. It definitely needed a longer story. By far the shortest Lego game I've played.

One to add to my Switch list; PC games not getting any love this year so far, despite having a very decent machine:

GRIS - short puzzle-platformer, got through it in about three hours. Nice game, awesome music, but not the best experience playing handheld; hard to make out some stuff when the camera zoomed out in different parts. Better on a big screen I'm sure!

Little Nightmares and its DLC finished.

Game similar to Limbo and Inside with some parts really getting the heart rate up. Liked it

  • Registered Users Posts: 28,791 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

    And so ends Superhot.

Played it ages ago and kept dying at a part. Picked it up again today and got past the level first try.

Good game, though for some reason the Steam version has all Xbox button prompts. Maybe I should've tried disconnecting the Xbox controller

Completed Detroit: Become Human over the last few days. I enjoyed it a lot. The acting and graphics are excellent and the storyline is solid despite suffering from the usual sci-fi clichés. I'm not sure what some people have against David Cage but I've enjoyed all his games to date with this one being no different.

I also finished another standard Artifex Mundi puzzle game called Queens Quest 2. As usual I only buy these games when they are on sale.
