Done that loads and it was great fun, but I've actually quit drinking 18 months ago, shortly after I started doing this lark.

Drinking in the back of your van on your own is not a good thing, lol, that penny dropped, so I quit drinking.

Non Drinking is a massive advantage to living like this, always able to drive at any time etc.

What about finding parking? Do you commute to work in the Van?

Ever been clamped? Either when you were in van or away

Am I the only one who automatically made the association between a man with a mattress in his van and dead hookers?

He is costing us nothing unless he makes a claim.

Do you sleep well?
Have you ever had to stop staying in an area due to noise such as anti-social behaviour or early morning traffic like vin collections etc.

Sounds like a great set up you have!

It may well and my love life is stone dead at the moment.

But I have bigger things on my mind and Im on a mission.

And believe me, if a lady did not at understand at all where I'm coming from, we probably would not get on anyway. I'm a bit of an oddball anyway, and like other oddballs.

I intend to be dating soon/now, so fingers crossed.

Need to build my thunderbox first really before I bring a chick back...

Do you think you might find one with her own thunderbox?

Dude as a female I assure you there are dozens of ladies who are more than OK with the lifestyle but you may not meet them in the city. When doing crvt do you have to remove everything coz it's not a camper. Do you do much miles. What about van maintenence do you do all your own if it breakdown what's the backup plan. When on hols if you go away do you just park at family. I second the get a co2 monitor life saver.

I have not done the actual sums , I need to ,

Food - Humm, I eat well, no take aways, well maybe one a month, so about 350 on Food/Housewears . Same as anyone else who cooks for themselves I guess.
I have to buy a lot of water. I have a 20 liter tank on board.

Diesel - I don't really have to commute Mon - Fri, but I do drive a good bit at the weekends, so probably 200- 250 per month.

Electricity - I have a 110ah 12v Leisure Battery , charged from a Voltage Sensitive Relay - so the Battery charges off the engine- 'Free ' Power. Decent solar incoming Aslo.

Parking - I do have to pay for parking regularly , I cannot just put this van anywhere, and like I said, I dont want to draw attention, always pay and display etc - 20 - 30 Month on random parking .

Tolls - 3.80 - 4.40 in a van, that adds up quickly running a van privately.

Laundry machine - about 10/15 a week

The rest is normal human being running costs, I'm trying to think van specific, humm...

Pretty much every single morning the first thing I have to think about is ' Where am I?' It takes a moment or two to remember parking the night before.

I like it, its an interesting way to experience the world.

I do have dogs, and they were one of the reasons I had issues renting/sharing.

But they stay with family now as they are old and lazy.

I would often have them for a few days here an there when not working, they have their spots in the van, and know the drill.
