Birth record mystery

I'm doing a bit of research for a friend and have found her relative in the 1911 census aged 7 months. The census says he was born in Wales and this tallies with family stories. However when I tried the index of Births Marriages and Deaths in Britain I can't find him. I've looked in all four quarters for 1910 and no joy. Anyone any ideas? It might help that his name is so uncoomon that there is only one of that name in the 1911 census and it's him!

Double check the spelling, check for an Anglicised version or Welsh spelling version, or what about him being born out of wedlock and taking his mothers maiden name instead of the obvious Surname? check English records too, he might have been born just across the border in England?

    Good luck.

Parts of Wales were in England at various points in time.

He may have been late registered in the first quarter of 1911. The UK GRO will do a search for someone for a small fee, failing all your own efforts.

Look for "Male" as his first name. Often babies were registered before a name was chosen.
