how long to have average Italian if speak Spanish

    Hi all

    I love the sound of the Italian language and have enjoyed my various holidays there but hate being a typical English speaking tourist outsider.

    While, I am not a native Spanish speaker I am thinking of doing the C1 DELE exam soon (the second highest Spanish exam offered).

    Bearing in mind this "Spanish backround" anyone know how long it would take me to get to an average B1 level of Italian (i.e. can communicate without problems albeit with grammar mistakes and improvising the words I want to say if the Italian slows down and anunciates).

    I live in Dublin and it isn't practical for me to spend more than two weeks (i.e. holidays ) there.

    Depends on your aptitude for languages, I suppose.

    Working the other way, I reached something like a B1 level in Spanish, starting with fluent Italian, in only a few weeks living in Spain - of course, when I 'something like', it was not grammatically pretty.

    Duolingo.com is a great resource. So too is Language exchange.com. See if anyone in your area wants to exchange. Great craic too.
