We had a stove removed and the fireplace filled with granite blocks, then plastered over. This was about two weeks ago, maybe three. I asked them to put an air brick in but they insisted that was a bad idea. They were supposed to cover chimney with a cowl but haven't yet and there has been heavy rain. I think they stuffed…

I asked them to put an air brick in but they insisted that was a bad idea. They were supposed to cover chimney with a cowl but haven't yet and there has been heavy rain. I think they stuffed some rockwool into the old flue from the stove.

Today there is a crack along where the top of the fireplace was. What would have caused this?
