L31 you have a great life, nice pics.
Its been a few months since I last posted some pictures. Life here is good, every weekend feels like a holiday. I am starting to understand why a lot of Canadians here never see the need to get a passport. They work to live, rather than live to work.
Anyway, here's a selection of pictures from the last few months. Winter has slowly, very slowly, left us now and summer is finally here.
With the incredible access here it has allowed us to progress extremely quickly towards becoming proficient as full Mountaineers. This time last year I would of still viewed a hike like the Glendalough loop as challenging. Now, we are at a stage where we can safely handle moderate to difficult exposure and Class 4 climbing/downclimbing unroped. We are learning our knots and proper roping techniques now and before the next winter is out we should be capable of doing long glacier expeditions with steep couloir ascents to summits.

^^Really never thought I'd see the day we'd have stuff like that here
Yeah, it was a truly awesome day in Waterford. We climbed like a 50m WI3+ or so, in 2 pitches. Thick solid ice, well protected by ice screws all the way. We then climbed the final steep ice of Mahon falls. Glendalough didn't freeze up half as well. The ice was thin, but still took screws.
The temperature changed rapidly that week and I'm sure it all returned to normal in just a few days. Here's hoping for another cold one this year.0 -
