RIC got a pen within a few laps. Surely they can decide now on Hamilton. Like it's 10 min since the end of the race

    Very similar incident

The Brazilians love him, it’s akin to Penalising a Ferrari at Monza

Will Sainz take the final podium spot and stand on it?

    Edit:

    Nope

Thats bull**** of sainz gets his first podium but doesnt get standing on it.

They're not going to riot over it. Delighted for Gasly.

Delighted for gasly. Poor lad turfed out and now he gives red bull a one two in an inferior car.

Clearly Max is the favourite and he didn't do well under that environment. Nice bit of redemption.

Do feel sorry for albon but he'll recover, gasly needs the boost more

Another bonkers race in Interlagos - since it's been moved to the end of the season, this track has almost always produced insane results.

Not that it never did before - Fisichella got a win here with a Jordan that was barely fit to be on the grid, but in general the results were more "standard" when the race happened in March.

Albon left the door wide open. Don’t think he can have too many complaints.

The gap wasn't there ... as Lewis admitted after the race, blaming himself for the incident

I'm not normally one to get hung up about these things but...the Hamilton-Albon collision is actually very straightforward. Either it's a "torpedo maneuver" or it's a "racing incident" considering it was a very hectic bunch of final laps. It should take no more than 5 minutes to take either decision, it's not like it's a matter of millimeters.

Hamilton even said it was his fault. You could see he locked up just like Ricciardo. If they are going to be consistent with what they have given Ricciardo and Kvyat in the last few races then should be 5s penalty.

Sky haven't jumped onto the "SkyPad" to analyse the incident like they normally do. Replays are very scarce, still waiting to see the onboard from Hamilton's car.

Like somebody else said, it's similar to Ricciardo on KMag which warranted a 5 second penalty.

I think that looking at Hamilton's on board camera there was a good reason why he took responsibility.

5 second penalty to Hamilton and 2 penalty points.

5 second penalty for Hamilton, rightly so

Gutted for Sainz missing out on the podium.

Sainz a podium finisher without standing on the podium, that's a kick in the goolies

They should have had it sorted before he took the podium.

Disgraceful to see him up there when it was clear as day it was a penalty.

What the hell takes them so long to make these decisions!!

If any of the podium finishers are under investigation then they should postpone the podium for 10 minutes, strap on a pair, make the decision and give the penalty and then have the podium. Really sh1t for Sainz to get his first podium like this.

P20 to p3. Great drive for Sainz. He was up to p11 very quickly and then got a bit of luck the rest of the way.

They can't do that because of the TV schedule obligations. Sky continue on for ages after a race but many end immediately after the podium ceremony.

They sorted it fairly quickly in Japan 89 & Austin 17. No reason why that couldn’t have been done today.

    Raikkonen could inherit 3rd

Japan 89 was 30 years ago, makes it irrelevant in this discussion. Austin 17 was when Max was in the cool down room waiting for the ceremony to start when he found about the penalty right? That could have happened today, but I suspect the multiple investigations also open re: drivers using DRS under yellow flags was a contributory factor in the delay.

Investigations where the outcome of the podium might be affected needs to be given priority just like it seems it was in 17, irrespective of Japan 89 being 30 years ago the podium didn’t take place until the investigation was resolved. Sainz if he keeps this won’t have stood on the podium, it may be the only time in his career, we don’t know.

If they delayed the podium ceremony for 5 minutes F1 fans would be calling for heads to roll, the investigation into Sainz is still ongoing. You propose that they wait indefinitely, that would go down well with the sport where fans are never happy

Supposedly 6 drivers under investigation for the DRS infringement

Not indefinitely, give it priority as in get it sorted and get everything else unless it’s something more serious. I’d say half of Spain will be up in arms if Sainz is declared 3rd seeing as he couldn’t stand on the podium

6 cars are apparently under investigation for DRS use. None of them are the Alfas.

Yeah seen that on Sky. They ran out of time to find out what the stewards are doing so Sky Sports News is on now
