After many years of service our endearing weather man John Eagleton is retiring this week.

Personally I will miss his soothing voice whereby he has always delivered the good and bad weather in such a professional manner and even if it was a bad forecast nobody panicked :)

Best of luck John in your retirement.

The day he left the TV forecasts was the day the weather got worse.

May he have a retirement which is bright with sunny spells.

Sad to see him go. Alot of the steady hands are sadly coming of retirement age.

I'll miss John's broadcasts on RTE. He had a unique, very soothing way of presenting the weather... he even managed to make bad weather sound tolerable.

    Happy retirement John.

A positive weatherman in the face of months of rain.

"It wont be all bad" "everywhere should get some dry spells" " it wont be wet all the time" Take note Gerry Murphy (we can expect rain or drizzle and unsettled windy weather from now until I retire)

Apparently his last radio broadcast was just before 6pm yesterday evening.

    He caused climate change?

Seriously, hope he has a happy retirement, always seemed like a like able block.

Maybe he might start posting here like some ex weather men do on Netweather?
