Made a good point in F2. We could start seeing cars being several laps down halfway through the race. 25 second pitstop which is half a lap!

That could have a big impact on the overcut and undercut at pit stops. Depending on where the gaps are there could be a big difference. But the shorter lap means the effect is smaller on each individual lap.

Compared to someone competent he is though.

Who is competent so in your opinion?
His teamates so far in F1:
Hamilton (7 time world champion) Lost 4-0
Massa (highly respected and very experienced almost world champion) won 3-0
Pastor Maldonado (very pacy on his day) won 1-0 also his rookie year.
So yeah except for 7 time world champion Lewis Hamilton, Bottas has beat his team mate in every season including his rookie year. People who downplay the abilities of Bottas are just secretly trying to downplay Hamilton. "ah sure he's in a faster car and Bottas is useless". Bottas is a very competent and consistent driver a quick look through his driving history will show you this. There is a reason the top F1 team signed him up and kept him for 5+ years.

Max Papis - blast from the past.

    Ricardo looking good.
Kudos to Ferrari for getting Vettels's engine changed in time too.
Be interesting to see if Max can split the Mercs.
Looks like no major surprises in store with Q1 in terms of bottom five. Be good to see if Mag can stay in for Q2.

Redbull spot on with their times but seemed a bit risky

Albon through to Q2 by the skin of his teeth in 15th.

Put down quicksand on the outside of the kerbs. That'll learn em. Failing that, tar pits.

They keep saying Red Bull called it spot on but they got very lucky in my opinion.

Strange, Vettel coming in on a flying lap like that...

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,219 ✭✭✭Gaoth Laidir

Vettel out in Q2. Surely they should have continued that lap.

    Albon and Norris out too!

Verstappen fastest in Q2. Albon P12 and out

Meanwhile Perez P2....... I know who I'd have in the Red Bull next season

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,786 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Albon had said on the radio he can't go much faster than that, he was right.

Yeah not good for Albon. Perez would be a good number 2 for Red Bull, do the same job that Bottas does for Merc.

    Nice lap Kvyat

Same old same old at the front

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,219 ✭✭✭Gaoth Laidir

Bottas on pole, Russel 2nd, +0.026 s. Verstappen third.

Leclerc's casual "f*ck it, I'll be grand" attitude worked. 4th.
