    That's ridiculous. Ruined the race.

People talking like Hamilton wasn’t already ahead of Bottas.

Bottas gets screwed and hamilton gets lucky ... again again again

That could not have been timed any better for Hamilton and for a short time period also seems an unnecessary VSC. In fairness, Hamilton was probably going to take the lead anyway.

Lewis getting some jammy luck, yet again. I wouldn't mind him doing an overtake during normal racing pitstops, but this does away with a proper battle with Bottas. Just typical.

    They screwed bottas again.

If Bottas wasn’t riding the curbs so much then he wouldn’t have damaged the floor of his car.

You can all cry all you want, but Hamilton was 4s off Bottas when Bottas came in (to cover off Verstappen), and Hamilton was 1s ahead before the VSC.

Was the VSC over before Vettel, Raikonen and Latifi could pit?

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,759 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Hamilton had just enough time in hand if he had a flawless stop.

He still needed to warm up the tyres which might have led to a bit of excitement.

    Nevermind.

    Let the conspiracy theories commence

Bottas rolls over all the time, he does the strategy they tell him. Hamilton questions things, he makes things happen for himself. It's the champions mentality and Bottas doesn't have it. No grand conspiracy

More nonsense. Bottas was already 1s behind even before the VSC.

This simply shows the gulf in class between both of them. One of these days Hamilton will get his dues.

Yes, I don't see why they needed the VSC for such a short period of time.

You can't put marshals to recover a car on a live grand prix circuit. He was parked up so it was a quick recovery.

I don't see why they needed to remove the car. It was well out of the way and they also removed the piece of front wing without the need for a VSC.

Tyre warm up could have cost him that extra second

    Lucky boy Bottas there.

There is zero denying that Bottas is not as good a driver as Hamilton.

But there’s also no denying that Mercedes treat him very differently to their golden boy Hamilton.

And as for the people saying he was riding the curbs team radio just confirmed it was from the debris.

    Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

Bottas, on fresher tyres, lost a net 5s to Hamilton before the VSC.

To say Bottas was screwed is absolute horsesh*t. That’s all on Hamilton, because Hamilton is top tier.

The only person that screwed Bottas over was Bottas himself, he's just not good enough to maximize a strategy on a Sunday the way Hamilton does.

    Ha ha, good old ferrari.

We get it you’re a Hamilton fanboy.

People can have opinions and thoughts ffs.

In other news a terrible pit stop from Ferrari

It's an unnecessary risk to driver safety, leave a car stranded on the side of the circuit and what happens if someone crashes into it?

The wing debris situation was very different, it happened at the start when the field was still bunched up. They had a gap to send a marshal to recover it without neutralising the race. Ocon's car being recovered in the middle of the race when the field is spread around the whole circuit means they can't do the same.

Hamilton after Verstappen came in: “I’m picking up the pace, don’t even try to stop me.”

Bottas boxed straight after and didn’t even try to fight it.
