Do you ever check your blood sugar?

Talking about non diabetics obviously . I wonder why GPs dont advise to monitor it, even to just roughly gauge how your body reacts to certain foods, and whether they spike your blood sugar much. Because although we have a good idea of what foods are high and low on the glycemic index the effects the foods have on the blood sugar of each of us as individuals is still obviously very variable.

I think Im going to start checking mine, especially after big meals . Ive heard that the inflammation caused by blood sugar spikes can over a very long time lead to heart disease and degeneration of the brain(dementia) for instance. Do you monitor yours with any regularity?
Im 24 and I had my blood sugar tested for the first time ever the other day, it was fine, but what if I had had type II diabetes and didnt know it and was doing damage to my body over time? Seems strange that its not checked regularly like how blood pressure is

Be no point unless you checked each food in a sciency way

+ you get the stopped-clock-in-right-twice-a-day thing

have a look at the link in this post :

I came across the article below earlier and said I'd post it here. A non diabetic woman wore a CGM to investigate her blood sugars and had some interesting results.

    Why big meals ?

The spike from oatmeal was 40 points higher than my Thanksgiving dinner, which included stuffing, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie

It's great you're taking an interest in yourself, at least type l has the decency to try and kill you , type ll is really sneaky and can take decades - some people only find out too late ( say when they notice blind spots in their vision etc )
