Only recently found these my god I have been missing out, be nice if they came to Ireland again

Ah I remember my first introduction to Tool. Got a CD copy of Aenima from the new kid in school. Never heard of them prior to that (internet wasn't as accessible for me at the time) but made a big impact to my future musical taste anyway.

Now you can join the rest of us being tortured waiting for a new album!

I was listening to main stream crap when I was younger so much time wasted. Curious to see what the new album is like :)

Had a ticket to see them in the Point in 2006 but couldnt go and had to sell it, a major regret of mine. 10,000 Days was great. Cant wait to hear some new stuff from these guys.

MJK on JRE; Interestingly says TOOL are contracted for 1 album and A Perfect Circle just signed up for a 1 album deal, not linked to albums but talks about opium timing for albums and says Spring or Fall probably Spring or Fall in another 3 years or so for a new TOOL record :p

Anyway plenty of other discussion, enjoy

Not what you'd call prolific, anyway.

He gave very little away though Joe wasn't exactly pressing him for dates.

For those who don't want to listen to the whole thing, they only have two songs written that are 'probably' ready to be recorded, according to Maynard.

He sounds as frustrated as Tool fans in a way. I understand his not wanting to start writing lyrics and melodies of they're going to constantly change the structures.

Aye, sounds like if it was up to him they would have written and released a number of albums already.

MJK talked recently to Joe Rogan. If you haven't the patience to listen to Joe's macho codology - or Maynard's blather about vineyards - this is the part that's pertinent to Tool: specifically about any new music that might be on the horizon.

Hard to know what to make of his comments. On one hand it's good to hear that something is going on, but, on the other hand, it sounds like things are pretty dysfunctional between him and the other members right now. He's semi- polite enough but he uses adjectives like tedious and slow and in general sounds fed up without really coming out and saying it. So, I dunno.

Edit: Beaten to it by several posters!

Seen TOOL twice and A Perfect Circle once. Would love for him to come around with Puscifer at some stage too.
But for gods sake can we please have a new TOOL album

I gave up getting anxious about waiting for Tool's next album long ago. When it's out, it's out. They've had to wade through a sea of massive distractions on this album cycle in particular but the good thing now is we know they're working on it fairly flat out and I don't think anyone would want a Tool album to be rushed.

I don't think things seems dysfunctional between Maynard and the other lads. Going from that interview it seems like he's gotten used to the rest of the bands process long ago albeit it is not in line with his own more high output creative process.

Puscifer's last album was class, so there's some upsides :pac:

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    According to Danny Carey.
2018 will "definitely" yield a new record
At this point, it’s tough to decide when Legend of the Seagullmen will tour because we’re getting close to going in the studio with Tool, so we kind of have to work around each other’s schedule

Yes. I’m saying definitely. We’ll probably have it done in the first half [of the year] if things go as planned. There’s setup times and manufacturing – I can never predict all that, it seems like it’s constantly evolving. What time of year it will be out I can’t tell you.

    Quotes pulled from here

There's so much hype around it now, it's hard to know what to even expect, but any new Tool music is better than none at all!

    From fb

    TOOL RECORDING NEWS!

Who’s ready for some major breaking news? Brace yourself; get ready… okay, here we go. We are very excited to announce what is sure to be welcome news for both fans of TOOL and prog-metal enthusiasts in general. After all the years of writing and arranging (and re-arranging) at the band’s loft, I can at this time officially report that the guys have moved into a major studio where the recording process for the next album is about to begin in earnest. For the past few days the band members have been getting sonically adjusted to their new surroundings - dialing in the equipment settings and restaurant catering choices - in preparation for Danny to begin his tracking any time now – perhaps by the time that you read this!

I am also excited to announce that ‘evil’ JOE BARRESI will once again have his capable fingers at the engineering controls for what will certainly be another masterful TOOL offering by the talented team. Pinch yourself if you want, but I have been told that all systems are GO at this point for the upcoming sessions.

I will be posting periodic bits and pieces on the progress of the tracking once the guys get deeper into the recording process, and hope that all of you will keep checking back to the official website for these updates. In the meantime, be sure to also visit the individual band members’ sites and socials (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) for more inside glimpses as TOOL prepares for the next stage in their musical odyssey.

    Sounds good to me.

How much are those music clinic tickets? Pricey I'd imagine.

$500 according to Loudwire, but that $500 gets you
The Ultimate VIP Experience where fans will “discover an immersive dissection of the band Tool. The evening with Danny Carey, Justin Chancellor and Adam Jones will feature performances, a Q&A session, meet and greet and photo opportunities with the band.

Fans will also get to see rare Tool memorabilia on display and will walk away with exclusive event items, VIP collectible merchandise and an autographed commemorative ticket. Each clinic will be limited to just a few hundred guests.

Not bad if your a die-hard Tool fan I suppose.

Not bad for the 3 boys either.

    8 x 500 x 250 = 1,000,000 in ticket sales alone.

I'm sure it would cost f@ck all to put these shows on.

Not having a go, just find it interesting how a loyal fan base can result in some serious non traditional revenue streams.

Hadn't realised there were a few festival dates lined up this summer too.

I'd be amazed if they don't have new stuff out sometime before or during the summer next year.

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,013 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Probably likely to add Hellfest to that list, so it'd make 15 gigs
