    I believe Alberta will suffer badly now that the Liberals are in power. And Notley and the NDP seem to be way out their depth in attempting to manage the Alberta economy.
    So basically I have a pretty low opinion of both parties. I'm just pleased that NDP didn't get elected federally. :pac:

    Can't say I'm too optimistic about the future of Canada's economy with selfie-boy in charge. Come back Stephen Harper, all is forgiven.

    It will be interesting to see the result of the federal budget coming up in a couple of weeks time.

    In the meantime, the loonie is starting to recover against the dollar, which is a good sign. Not sure if it's all doom and gloom.

    Alberta has been foolish with its money for decades. The federal government has been blamed for taking too much in transfers but the province has to shoulder blame as well. They should be sitting on a large rainy day fund to see out the dip in oil revenue.

    The main reason is because Alberta has contributed well over $200 billion in equalization payments over the decades to "have not" provinces (especially Quebec) and is still to this day a net contributor.

    It's not the only reason. Alberta could have saved a lot more than it did. Those lefties in Norway could teach them a thing or two about fiscal prudence.

    It's true that Alberta squandered a lot of its oil wealth but you can't really compare a sovereign nation with a province within a country. Apples and oranges. Alberta doesn't have control over much of its own finances.

    It has considerable control. A lot of money was squandered by the Tories over the decades. They should have been taxing and saving for the rainy day instead of bragging about the Alberta advantage.

    Andrew Scheer doesn't believe in gay marriage, in this video from 2005 that they dug up.

    Considering he doesn't attend gay pride parades, he probably hasn't changed his views from the 2005 video

    There are problems with Justin Trudeau but at least he is living in the 21st century unlike the Conservative party

    That was fourteen years ago. A bunch of the Liberals also didn't believe in gay marriage at that time. The Muslims in the Liberal cabinet also refuse to attend the Pride parades which are just open displays of degeneracy these days anyway. Another four years of Trudeau and his Libs would be disastrous for Canada.

    I think it's fair to say that all the candidates have their issues and none are exactly inspiring. I think though that Trudeau is still the most likeable and that Scheer is not being helped by the antics of Kenney or Ford in their respective provinces. I expect Liberals will win the most seats but not a majority and will need NDP to prop them up. Not sure it will be the disaster you think it will be.
