We have had 155mm in Castlebar so far this month, it probably will not break the our 1994 record of 271mm, but could easily get in the top 5 wettest Marches.

Snow still confined to Northern Ireland and parts of Donegal, I think very few of us will see snow tomorrow.

Looks like the Mayo/Donegal mountains could get a fair dump.

Anyone got eyes on Croagh Patrick or Mweelrea?

Nationally speaking, the average rainfall total is standing at 109 mm for the first 2 weeks of March. This makes it the wettest March 1st to 14th period in at least 45 years, and well ahead of the next highest (85 mm) that fell in opening 2 weeks of March back in 1982.

I think we are paying for what my Grandmother used to call 'pet days' at the end of Feb. She always considered them to be a bad omen, and on this occasion at least, she has been proved more than right.

Light to moderate rain in kildare. It’s the kinda rain with big drops that usually precedes it changing over to Snow.

Wet here. Raining all day - quite mild too. Hard to believe the snow an ice warning - I wouldn't pass any heed of it if they had predicted snow and ice for some parts of Donegal but does a yellow warning not just say it will deffo snow and it will be bad ( not majorly bad but you know,...) should all of Donegal wake up to snow? (and nowhere else)

These warnings are a bit redundant in this case.

Must be no snow at all with the lack of traffic here. Gusty night here in south Galway,. Plenty of rain but nothing exceptional

This has tracked just a bit further north than some of the guidance and may even get Malin Head into the warm sector for an hour or two, the action now would be after the cold front by late this afternoon and evening. Uppers will become marginally conducive for snow showers to develop in western counties after about 5 or 6 p.m. I don't expect any wintry falls from now to then given how far north the low is tracking (except on summits in Donegal possibly).

A sharp cold front will develop by late morning in Connacht and should clear most of Leinster by mid-afternoon. This should be watched for squally thunderstorm development especially over the inland southeast by 1 to 3 p.m.

Anything wintry will be several hours later than that feature with a second front likely to develop about three hours behind the main cold front. Once that has passed temperatures will be well down from mid-day readings and precip could turn wintry. This won't be confined to the north, it could occur over higher parts of west Munster as well by this evening.

All that can be seen towards the mountains is low, heavy cloud.
All that can be seen anywhere is low, heavy cloud.

The heavy rain drumming started in the small hours and there is a small lake by the gate. Everywhere is sodden and dank. Cats are coming in dripping.

A day to light candles and stay indoors.

west mayo offshore, wondering why the sea does not overflow..
