Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Looks like it’s from the 1970s. Enamel? Bakelite knob on top that screws on to the lid itself like a milk bottle lid. Always curious about it and why the hell they don’t make them like this. It’s heavy and though food sticks to it, it’s easy to clean.

    Sorry if this is the wrong place. Highly unlikely to be an antique or valuable. Either way I wouldn’t give it away, too good a pot.

    I think half the country had those back then. Pretty basic enameled steel but practically unbreakable.

    1970s, 80s maybe.
    Thousands made, probably not many in use due to changing tastes.

    Probably early enough post-EEC joining 70s imports; a few years ago you'd easily find them in charity shops but whether they'd even take them now is questionable enough.

    The dearer domestic option then was always Castle Brand, long gone and factory is a derelict shell now if not demolished by now
