Some incredible photos and reports in this thread on the American Weather Forum ... in the upper peninsula of Michigan (the part between Lake Michigan and Lake Superior), four feet of snow were on the ground before this latest snowstorm hit with another two feet on average, it's a very strong low that will be followed by 50-60 mph winds. Those have not quite started yet in this region, being reported over Iowa and Illinois at present.
https://www.americanwx.com/bb/topic/...omment-5203082 This is snow country but the locals are saying it is the heaviest snow pack they have seen in a long time. |

About that desert snow, there has been a lot of rain and mountain snow in Arizona and southern Utah also, and we're hoping this means a surplus of desert bloom in April when we hope to be down that way. Bryce Canyon airport the other day had a morning low of -24 C, it's on a high plateau but that is quite a bit below their normals. Probably a good snow pack in that area, I think it snowed about 6-8" in places like Cedar City and Kanab UT when LAS got their dusting. The pattern is about to break down by the looks of the model runs, returning the southwest to more normal spring conditions and pushing the storm track back up towards us (we have been unusually dry but cold here in south-central BC).

Fine warm dry weather leading to fire clearings getting out of control in Spain. I wonder if this pilot could have reloaded somewhere a little less crowded !
