This was on the ray darcy show on today fm last week. He said he would announce the five sports which use a net but no ball and i missed the answers.

This has been bugging me for a while as i can only get 2 of the five

There a loads of sports which use nets for safety like hammer throw, etc. but i dont think that these should be included.

    Any ideas?

Are these the five that were mentioned on the show.

I wouldnt count those sports which use nets for safety precautions, i wouldnt count fishing either cause its not vital piece of equipment is it

    How could table tennis count?

Soccer is increasingly becoming a sport with nets but no balls, as such. :D

surely Shot Putt must count too, as would skiing as they use safey nets.

A shot putt is a ball.

Everyone is saying ice hockey but isnt there a net in the goals?
Tiddlywinks is actually a sport believe it or not, darts is a sport also

Ummmmmmmmmmmm, embarassing. I read the question wrong.
I was thinking of sports without nets

I think the fifth one is a trick, in boxing the girl the lets punters know which round is next is called Annette.

American Football only has nets in use when the ball is technichally out of play- therefore doesn't use nets

Hurling uses a sliotar which isn't a ball.

Well then the ball can be considered to be out of play in soccer, gaelic, hurling etc... once it crosses the line. So therefore those sports don't use nets either by that logic.
