Was in Tesco today, had coupon with me so I used it and got 2euro off.

I am 100% I got that 2euro off as if it didn't work I would return an item.

When I came home I discovered that I bought Benecol (3euro on offer) and used coupon for Danacol and it did work. On coupon it says customer assistant to make sure you actually buy Danacol, but I paid at self scans, not sure how I managed to mix Benecol and Danacol :)

I am surprised it did work, I thought system would not allow it.

I used to work in Tesco as a cashier, the system has no way of matching what product is bought and whether it is the same as the coupon you have. It just applies the discount regardless. Hence, when I worked there I was often handed loads of pigsback coupons and I used to scan them for people, despite them not having bought the specific products.
This was a few years back, I'm assuming it's still the same.
That being said, I wouldn't condone it... not every cashier was as nice as I was ;)
