Hi, suppose you're the director of a small Irish limited company and you want to issue a dividend to the company's shareholders.

How much would be a reasonable fee your accountant might charge to declare and pay out this dividend?

    Thank you

Very little I would imagine (may €150 or €200 plus vat) but it depends on how many shareholders there are and whether there are any complications. Most are straightforward and as a minimum he would need to do DWT returns and pay the tax to Revenue. Minutes of meetings to declare dividends would also need to be prepared but you could do this yourself.

Not sure of your accountancy knowledge but is there a reason a dividend was paid. They are not the most tax efficient but they can be used to avoid close company surcharges.

Sometimes no fee might be charged if there is a decent fee for preparing the accounts as the extra time involved is insignificant overall.
