Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Currently an Architectural technology student and loved the course up until I started my internship.

    I've come to realize I can't stand working in an architects office. It's long hours, stressful and I'm at a desk all day modeling on Revit. I'm very good at using the software, but technical detailing and regulation research is my Weak point.

    I've decided, despite not wanting to go on to work as a technologist in a typical architects office, that I am going to finish out the final year of my degree and possibly pursue a master to get myself into another line of work.


    Has anyone got any recommendations as for the direction I should take if I wanted to move into property development/managment, or an even more distant motor trade. (I know complete change but I'm car obsessed and have bought and sold cars throughout my time in college)

    Believe me - this stage is least stressful stage in your architectural career. But unfortunately there is not much car-related job options in Ireland (compare to UK for example).

    Hey - I think finishing your degree is a good call, no matter what that looks good on paper.
    I would definitely do some research into what kind of masters or professional qualification would be a good conversion course for you, or try your hand at going directly into something too.

    This is why I love any course that has internships as part of the program, its tells us a lot!
