The Valerie Coyne Quintet returns once again to bring another night of Vocal Jazz to Bewleys Cafe Theatre with their rich repertoire of jazz standards, featuring their own arrangements and unique interpretations of some of the most beautiful songs ever written.
Joining them will be special guests The Jenna Harris Quartet. The Jenna Harris Quartet have been playing together since attending New Park Music College 6 years ago. New Park is renowned for its excellence in jazz and in bringing these musicians together it hasn't failed to live up to its name. Their set will consist of arranged jazz standards along with some compositions by Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen and some lesser know compositions by jazz vocalist Betty Carter. Their unique take on this material is not to be missed.

That Pint Pub looks well dodgy IMO, been outside and seen the types walking in and i must say it don't strike me as a jazz venue. Might be wrong.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,345 ✭✭✭Velvet Vocals

I'd have to agree with that. I know someone who played there last week and was heckled so badly they stopped playing and left. Sounds like a no go to be honest!

  • Registered Users Posts: 8 Hot House Bigband

    Have to disagree,
We had our launch night there last monday and the venue really worked well for us!!
We had a great crowd with no problems what so ever!!

We're there every monday night and if you like bigband music i promise you won't be dissapointed..

check us out on facebook for some photos of our launch night

Just a note to say any I'll be pruning this thread every so often as the gigs pass.

NB: if you want to discuss a particular gig then start a new thread, don't post here.

    A quick question...
Is this the right thread where to advertise my upcoming gigs?

    Hey Guys,

Rather then post up another poster here, i'm just going to put a link to my blog which has details of my upcoming gig in the National Concert Hall

    http://velvetvocals.blogspot.com/2010/06/valerie-coyne-quintet-plays-national.html

Just to say that this is the biggest gig I've ever played and I'd really appreciate it if you could all spread the word for me!!!
We're doing balcony TV next week and I'll post the video as soon as I can. Also listen out for us on the culture show on RTE and Newstalk and Near FM. I'll post details closer to the time.

Your help in spreading the word will be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Ali and the Dts are playing in JJ Smyth's on Aungier street, Dublin, tonight 20th November. They're pretty good - they played both oxegen and the electric picnic this year and are currently recording their second album.
Well, that's it. I'm going anyway.
