Sending small packets?

    Hey folks,
I've had to send 2 small packets recently to the UK and the price has been high enough to make me wonder how much cheaper it can be done for, as there's no way businesses who do regular shipping, could pay them prices for shipping the same size and weight, keeping any decent profit margin for themselves.

The first was just under 1KG and was about 40x20x20 and cost €22 tracked.

The second was about 30x15x15 and cost €18 tracked.

    Both sent by anpost.

I've checked parceldirect.ie and the bigger couriers can't offer anything better, but does anyone know what kind of price would be possible with the likes of DPD on account? Do you need to do a certain amount of deliveries per month/year to keep the account going, or is it possible to have an account that you only use once or twice a year?

    Any feedback would be great!

    parcel2go.ie or parcelmotel.com suggests €15

Are you not in the delivery business yourself?

Would you give the same discount to someone using you a couple of times a year than someone using you a couple of times a week?

My brother ships to the uk a lot and he pays dpd under €7 for large boxes. I'll guess about 15kg.

But he'd be sending a fair whack on a daily basis.

Use parcel motel who’ll deliver it to Royal Mail in the north. Stick parcel motel label on one side, Royal Mail on the other. Have used it loads of times.

Done this, and it works. Also good for sending batteries abroad as An Post won't.

Thanks a lot for the advice folks!

Darc19, it's furniture removal and dedicated load bulky transport I'm in so a different business altogether :)

€7 sounds great, but yeah, I imagine you'd need high volume to get that rate!
