    wondering if anyone can recommend anywhere to get a nice dress Ive 3 weddings in 2 months. im early 30's so nothing to frumpy, anywhere other than the usual coast, river island , etc ....Any boutiques maybe or online sites ?

    Chi chi London is nice. Virgos lounge too. Ci ci on dresses online look nice but have never bought from them.

    It depends what you are into and how much you want to spend. I'm not overly crazy about floral dresses that are everywhere at the moment but if you like that style Kitri seems to be the brand of the moment. Other Stories and Finery could have also something.

    Oh I just thought of this brand. I bought one of their dresses for my own wedding (I didn't want traditional wedding dress). Their sizing is very small in comparison to high street but finish is very good.

    Yeah OP I think you need to give us some guidance on

    -your style overall
    -your budget
    -type of wedding(s) you're going to - black tie/country house/city wedding/summer/winter?

    Anyway, I'm around the same age and going through my wardrobe....

    - Zara
    - Warehouse
    - LK Bennett (outlet in Kildare Village if price an issue, and I've gotten some lovely pieces in their sale recently)
    - Catherine Deane (got a beautiful formal wear dress in her sale - €200 down from €700)
    - Whistles
    - Massimo Dutti
    - Reiss


    Kildare Village might be worth a visit if its possible for you. Also any department stores that carry a good selection of brands. I tend to find the Arnotts Womenswear sections good.

    Not to crash this thread but wanted to say thanks so much for this recommendation as I had never heard of this label before and had a dress delivered this morning for a friend's wedding and it's fabulous!

    Only concern now is whether it's ok to wear white accessories (shoes & jacket) over a bright pink dress? Is this ever ok for a wedding?! Really don't want to wear black with it and have a beautiful white cape already!

    Yes white jacket and accessories are perfectly fine to wear.

    I'm going to gatecrash this thread also. I've a family wedding next month and have the dress got.

    But it's going to be March and not the warmest, particularly in the Church and the photos and chatting outside the Church. A shawl won't really keep me warm. Any suggestions for a dressy coat or long jacket to wear. Once we get to the hotel I'll be fine. Kate Middleton seems to do coats at weddings really well but I don't even know where to look for one.

    My wife has some lovely 'dressy' coats, she dresses very vintage but you want something with a bit of 'swing' to it I think to pull off a coat at a wedding.

    The important thing is to get a coat that is longer than your dress length. Nothing worse than half your skirt popping out the bottom- unless you get something that works but finishes at the waist, so it looks like it's meant to be short. I'd say a department store with lots of different styles would be best to have a nose at- maybe debenhams or arnotts, or shaws or something?

    Easy for Kate when she's buying coordinating pieces from Alexander McQueen - assuming you're on a more modest budget OP!

    This is a tricky one because unless you're going to buy coordinating peaces, which tend to be expensive, it can be challenging to get more versatile coats to look dressy for a wedding.

    B&C makes a good point, that a dress longer than the coat is not a good look. Anything naturally to the waist is fine. Personally I've only been to a handful of winter weddings, but for the ones I've been to I've worn one of a selection of faux furs that I've had for years. I've a black one from Pied a Terre and a neutral coloured one from Avoca. Neither were cheap but both versatile and I wear them as much with jeans and heals on a night out but also to weddings.

    Personally getting a coat to match each dress seems wasteful to me as I'd struggle to wear them again.

    Thanks for the replies about the wedding coat. Good point about the dress length being longer. The dress I have is longer at the back than the front.
    I do have a cream blazer that I could wear that would keep my arms warm, pretty much like this one:

    But my dress has a split, which is fine when you are standing or milling about but not so much when you are sitting in a church, that's why I was thinking about a coat to cover it a bit.


    I like the fit and flare style of the coat B&C has linked but I shudder at the feel of velvet personally.

It was enough to keep me covered before & after the church and it didn't take away from the dresses I had (all very strong colours), and the suede like material took away from the "trench coat" style. I thought it looked quite stylish, if I may say so, and was much more "me" than a wrap, blazer or cropped fur.

    Ah thanks Twee - that waterfall duster coat from Boohoo looks nice and could work with the dress. And for €16 plus a fiver postage it's worth a punt. Ordered the light grey, I figured it would be neutral enough looking.
