Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

How to get around the "Please turn off your ad blocker" pop ups.

    If you ready any amount of news online you should have an ad blocker.
    However I'm seeing more and more that sites are getting ahead of these ad blockers and popping up a request for you to turn off the ad blocker so you can read what is behind it.
    Well I've no time to be turning on and off the ad blocker so I've found that you can take these few simple steps to read the article.

    1. Press Ctrl +A to select all.
    2. Press Ctrl +C to copy
    3. Open Word.
    4. Right click and select 'Paste Text Only'

    At first glance the formatting might be a bit funky but once you get used to it it's grand.

    Usually I just wont bother with the article or the website when this happens.

    But if it is something I really want to view then I will just right click the adblock icon and 'pause adds on this site'. Takes about 2 seconds. Couldnt be arsed to copy, open word, paste and then view it in a weird format.

    I hear you. It's also handy reading it in plain text in Word when you want to finish an article in work. ;-)
