Would anyone know if irish senior hockey cup medals in the 1940s were solid gold.

They would have a hallmark if they were. And for what it's worth, the last time the Olympics awarded solid gold medals was 1912. Since then, winners receive a silver medal coated with 6g of gold.

Thanks, since i posted the query i have seen pics online of a 1938 medal with 9 carat gold hallmarks and a 1943 medal with siver hallmarks and a gold gilt finish,so it would appear that the gold medals stopped at some point between 1938 and '43.
